“On the surface, a perfectly normal insurer.
However, when something needs attention, they fall down.
An incident of attempted theft last year had been confirmed as "no claim" with my previous insurer, however Motorcycle Direct emailed me & demanded "an additional premium" (no advice as to how much this might be) because of it.
One customer service agent advised he would get in touch with the underwriter (ERS) who were the underwriter for both my previous insurer, and Motorcycle Direct.
He would then confirm the no-claim status, and I would not have to pay the additional premium, which should not have been charged in the first place.
This was just before Christmas.
Just after Christmas, in the week following & before new year, I get a call from Motorcycle Direct demanding I pay a one-off £50 - The "additional premium" rearing it's head again.
After advising of all the details above, they were still adamant this was not their problem, despite them using the same underwriter that had already confirmed the no-claim status, and it was down to me to prove there was no claim; to prove a negative.
Of course I could not get in touch with the underwriter in time due to the time of year, and they unilaterally cancelled my policy.
Nice one. Won't be using them again.”
“Not only did they trick me out of £40 because they never received my previous insurer's proof of no claims bonus before their only stupid "deadline", they then kept me talking and hanging on a premium phone line trying to sort it out and my bill for that call was £19.50p.
They are scammers and thieves.
If you are not a machine, please assure me that you will take some action.”
