I have this radio in the light oak finish. The sound is very good and is easily adjusted for different types of music. It's great for classical. The problem is the cable that connects the radio to the power. It is DREADFUL. The cable is so flimsy that it breaks where it plugs into the radio or into the power adaptor at the other end. I have had two of these cables now and both have been equally useless, eroding and breaking within a few months. I tried wrapping insulating tape around the areas that get damaged to try to prevent them breaking but this didn't work. Ridiculous! This is meant to be a portable radio, and it's not cheap. The only way to preserve the cable is to not move the radio at all or to keep several cables permanently plugged into power sockets in different rooms and then just move the radio to wherever you want to listen to it. In my case that would mean having a cumbersome large power adaptor plus cable plus trailing cable taking up valuable plug space in three different rooms in a small flat, either that or buy three radios and don't move them at all but this would still take up space. My previous Pure radio also had connector problems. In that case it was the actual port on the radio that was the problem, rather than the cable. What am I supposed to do. I like Pure radios and find the sound is exactly how I like it but I can't keep replacing parts or radios every couple of years.
