“To highlight the very good bits first, the product when installed does exactly what it says on the tin and installing it was very easy. However, avoiding it leaking proved a nightmare. I have the misfortune of owning an elderly Ideal Standard installation and, as a DIY plumbing novice, I did not realise that "universal fitting" of new products does not apply to such installations. The particular issue I have with the Dudley product is the large washer provided to go under the syphon was far smaller than the old one I took out, as was the plastic fixing nut. Whilst not obvious, I eventually realised that the seal was ineffective and the only way I was able to achieve a leak-free fitment without resorting to the "forbidden" use of sealant was by re-using the old nut and washer. It would have been helpful to have had a larger washer for older installations included, or at least available as an optional extra.”
