Tried to cancel the order. Not possible with Steamforge, there is no obvious cancel button. I had to email customer service which took days to respond and then it was forwarded to those that could cancel the order. They said 'sorry it already shipped' and that I would have to reject the package to get refund. I did and they refunded for everything - except for the shiping! I tried canceling this order prior to it being shipped... Steamforges lack of basic order processing is the reason for this review.

I bought this primarily as an art book, because it has a lot of lore and illustrations of game art. As that object, it's great. Nicely bound, decent quality paper, nice ribbon bookmarker. I have only played one round of RPG with it, and I found it aggravating. You are deliberately started at a very low level at everything, which yes, I understand gives you room to grow. But losing 12 of my 20 arrows and failing to even wound one cow is pretty demoralizing. The odds of a successful roll with 3 dice are pretty steep. That's just an example. Critical gameplay information is missing or buried very deeply, and we kept having to say "well, in D&D it would be this way, so that's what we'll do." And the business of losing your skilling equipment on a failed roll is beyond the pale. This is my first foray into RPG, though the people i was playing with are very experienced. The game just seemed to drag on soooo slowly. Is that normal? And why did I just roll (and fail) once for my turn, when the dude next to me rolled (and failed) 4 times for his?

The quality of the book is excellent. I wish there were more Mahjarrat in it (I am obsessed with them, and they're the reason I got the book in the first place), but that's a personal problem and does not detract from the spectacular quality of the book. It has a prominent place on my shelf and I address it with sweet nothings all the time.

Have yet to play a game, but will be scheduling an initial meeting soon. I have enjoyed reading through this, and my only real issue is that materials aren't always ordered in a way that makes sense. For example, dragons are not ordered weakest to strongest, and wood / bar types are not either.
