Bought the full set and started a campaign with my friends, IG, Bow and Greatsword. The entry was a bit rough, as the explanations are often found at several places all across the manual. But after a few games, it gets easier and you fix all your mistakes. Regardless, the monster movement is often the most confusing part to fully get, as sometimes, especially when moving left/right, the monsters move away and does not damage any players. Also the interactions with monster special abilities and behaviour cards and status alignments can lead to some confusions. Stamina management is tricky at the start, but gets easier when you learn the tricks of each weapon. Still, the way it is being handled in MH Iceborn seems to be better, allowing for more flexibility with dodging and moving. Crafting could also be slightly improved: While you are able to trade normal materials in a ration 3:1, that is not possible for monster materials. That can lead to having to fight a monster only for getting one particular material, and having more than plenty of the remaining materials. While I know that this is true with regards to the video game, in a board game that feels demotivating. The minis are the highlight of the game and I love them. I am looking forward painting all the monsters to make it look even better. Overall, a good game and especially of fans of the MH franchise.
