The Virtual Monitoring addon takes time to get used to, it also applies to the flat target. Keep in mind that for VM we do have crossfeed and it might be slightly confusing at first.
I would suggest lowering the value with the dry/wet knob. After a while, gradually increase the value when you get used to the simulation that VM brings.
