“I tried the SoundID Reference Virtual Monitoring Add-On (without the main software) only briefly, but the first impression is pretty positive. The virtual monitoring feels surprisingly convincing and gives a different perspective on mixes, even without spending much time tuning the settings. I haven’t gone deep into all the features yet, so I can’t judge everything, but so far it seems like a useful add-on for quick checks and an extra listening reference. Looking forward to testing it more thoroughly.”
“After researching extensively all the in-ear virtual environments, and demoing them, I discovered sonar works virtual monitor system. After already owning the calibration software, this was a no brainer to demo. The clean visuals, no frills, all function interface was actually refreshing. By removing the noise of other products images and imitations and studio names, I felt like I could just get to work. And work it did. It also works with my specific brand of headphones (Blue Lola). My first mix in the headphones translated everywhere beautifully. I was sold. The enchiladas sale was also a welcome incentive. One star deducted not due to qualifying sound, but binaural calibration features like others are experimenting with. I would also love to see a mix box/mono speaker in the screen simulation. Things a clean, no fuss, great sounding plugin especially if you already own the calibration plugin…this is a no brainer.”
“I love the conceptual idea of two or three reference spaces but I do not agree with the ones included. Mid and far field add far too much reverberations and while they might sound nice with some material as an additional effect, they are in no way, shape or form comparable to a treated studio space. Especially far field has almost more reverberation than my living room, despite being the preset with the broadest frequency response. I would recommend focusing on free field frequency response and a good crossfees algorithm here, without adding space.”
“Sonarworks is part of the complete Audient ORIA Mini Room Correction System. SoundID Reference works very well with my Genelec speakers and my Audeze MM-500 headphones.”
