Due to the limitations of my studio, opting for headphones was the best current choice. I knew I needed to do what I could to support my monitoring being that it’ll currently be mainly from headphones. Reference ID supports this very easily. It simply does what I need it to do. I’m sure there are much more sophisticated ways to use the technology too which I look forward to exploring when I become more adept. As a first step, the virtual monitoring add on further supports me to make the best out of my headphone-only situation at the moment. The support centre is also very responsive to questions. Big ups!

The virtual monitoring had so many profiles right out of the box it was a no-brainer to pick it up as an add on to the SoundID Reference software.

Sound ID Reference has become part of my mix bus template. I mix on headphones only and I use it as the last plugin in my chain to simulate speakers and check the translation on other systems. Especially the smartphone translation check is so realistic!

I haven't use much the Virtual Monitoring Add-On... yet, bit I think it is safe to assume that it is accurate and true, given the clearly perceptible results of the corection software.

Virtual Monitoring has been super helpful with visualizing stereo imaging! The only (small) downside is that it is a little phase-y at times, which can be remedied slightly by switching between the latency modes.

I definitely recommend this. It takes some getting used to the sound but it’s already helped me make mixes that hold up better in the dreaded car test.
