“It wasnt really for me. I prefer the sound of my headphones, an would love it if they implemented a flat room response, as all the monitor types can come across as boomy. The translation checks like phone and TV's with this addition are AMAZING, its just I dont feel the small, medium, and large speakers theyre emmulating are as neutral as id like. If there was a way to see what the speakers frequency respinse was and not the sick graphic (A+ to the design team), i could reverse engineer it, but its for sure an amazing product for someone.”
“Sonarworks Virtual Monitoring has been a genuinely useful addition to my mixing workflow. It gives me a clearer sense of how my mixes translate across different listening environments without needing multiple physical setups. The interface is straightforward, the presets are practical, and it helps reduce guesswork during critical decisions. A very effective tool for improving mix confidence and translation.”
“The virtual monitoring add-on has had a direct impact on my mixing and mastering process. It goes well beyond EQ correction when using headphones. I can now hear the "room", not just the sound in the centre of my head. It's especially noticeable when trying to handle translation problems from phones, to cars, to earbuds. Recommended.”
“I think this is the future in monitoring. Flexible, portable, and userfriendly. Can't wait for future updates of different monitoring enviroments and precise monitor variations.”
“I’ve been producing and mixing for years and genuinely thought my monitoring was already pretty flat.
Turns out… I was living a lie.
I’m using Sonarworks with both a 2.1 setup and a 2.0 setup, measured with their own calibration microphone. The process itself is straightforward, but the results are honestly mind-blowing.
After the room analysis and implementation, the difference was immediate and undeniable. Low end suddenly made sense, stereo imaging snapped into focus, and decisions that used to feel “almost right” became obvious. What I thought was a balanced system turned out to be heavily colored by my room.
On the 2.1 setup, the bass integration became tight and controlled instead of boomy or misleading. On the 2.0 setup, translation improved massively — mixes now sound consistent across headphones, cars, and other systems.
This isn’t subtle. It’s a world of difference.
Sonarworks doesn’t make your speakers sound “better” — it makes them honest. And that honesty completely changes how you work. Faster decisions, more confidence, less second-guessing.
Huge recommendation for anyone serious about mixing or producing. Once you hear your room properly corrected, there’s no going back.”
