“To be honest: For me it's just an cosmetical update and not a new major version, which I've expected. I've spent 90 EUR for the upgrade, and I really have to say, that it's not worth the money, sorry.”
“So I just upgraded and consider the upgrade pretty expensive for what it is...
The website is pretty bad, it seems rushed, it doesn't display text properly on mobile, it only works decently on safari when on a mac, there's no clear way to upgrade from reference 4 unless you do a deep dive into the website sections, there's a bunch of spelling errors on drop downs and such.
Now on to the software.
Ive encountered these bugs so far:
* Old Reference 4 presets don’t translate and have to build them from scratch. (This is not talking about measurement profiles, it's talking about presets made from a particular measurement, just to clarify).
* Midi mapping is broken and crashes whenever more than two presets are mapped or I map to certain midi notes.
* You can no longer midi map functions like the basic enabling and disabling calibration.
* I can no longer run Reference 4 to compare. Why is that?
* It will randomly lower the current presets output volume when starting up or switching between presets, (I mean the actual output volume slider of the preset inside sound id reference).
* The duplicating function for presets does nothing at all.
* The target curve duplicate button only creates a new target curve, not a duplicate…
* Presets don’t carry over from Systemwide to plugin.
* Plugin doesn’t show Listening position is enabled when it is…
* Systemwide is not even close to near zero latency, even when bypassed it still produces quite a delay. Tracking with it is impossible (even when disabled).
* There was an update released today. I think this might be me but i believe 5.0.0.406 (the original version) sounds better than 5.0.0.409 .
* Some typos in menus (I know, incredible.) It doesn’t spell battery consumption correctly in settings for example.
* Installer cleanup is pretty bad, you are left with two systemwide apps, two measure apps, two copies of plugins, etc.
* Systemwide’s audio starts to degrade after some minutes streaming video from popular sites (Netflix, Youtube, etc.)
* Privacy concerns regarding the plugin trying to connect to Sonarworks servers every time the plugin is opened.
* Systemwide will randomly change the output channels on the selected output device on load.
I think it's pretty appalling that some of the basic functions are gone or completely overlooked in testing with such a "big" release. Looks like I spent $119 (now $89) for modifiable target curves more issues and an uglier UI.”
“SoundID Reference is still quite buggy. ASIO to ASIO still doesn’t work on my PC. Hope things will get better quickly. I’m confident Sonarworks can make it work well.”
