“I was a bit sceptical about this and after online reviews I purchased it last week. I wished i had it before mixing my tracks. Its a substantial improvement in the low and and also in the high frequencies. The boomy sound is gone and its sounds a lot more calm. The interface and the UI is just amazing. A lot of development has gone into this product. The competition is nowhere near to what this product offers you. In case you are on the fence, just try it out and i bet you are going to love it.”
“The software works great, it helped bring my moderately treated room to life. The microphone is of a high-quality build and is very sensitive. I would like to see more parametric eq controls (settings like steepness of shelves), and a less tedious way of creating custom corrections. I like to switch between flat, Dolby, custom etc. (especially for headphones). A subwoofer volume and crossover measurement incorporated into your fancy 2.0 stereo algorithms doesn't seem like too much to ask, I imagine it would be beneficial to the correction. Having to adjust the subwoofer and rerun the calibration after finding out your subwoofer is being overcorrected (beyond 6db according to your guide) is annoying. A 3-channel DAC or other solution + your multichannel software version can be out of reach for many people in budget audiophile.”
“Easy to set up and use. Improved the sonic accuracy of my mixes 20% right away, and I expect that number to go up as my ears get used to the space. If I had one criticism, it's that the feature to automatically remove the plug-in from the master buss when rendering does not work in Reaper. Hopefully, this can be added in the future.”
“I’m currently mixing in a home office with a not so ideal shape. I have treatment for first reflections and plan to add more, but first wanted to give Sonarworks a try since it gave me the measurement mic and could further correct issues that treatment can’t solve down the road. I am pleasantly surprised as how much of a difference it has made even with me having minimal treatment. The low end in my mixes has been way easier to handle. I definitely recommend this product to anyone with a less than ideal room, even if you have it fully treated.”
“Sound I’d does a great job at making the sound flat. It also has other listening options as cars, cell phones and different speakers. Great software!”
“I was a bit sceptical that it would work on my already treated room. But i was amazed about the difference after the calibration. You have to get used to the setting, especially when you mix with a subwoofer like me, but I have much more confidence about my mix now.”
“Getting Sonarworks SoundID Reference was a really good investment. Before putting up the cash for it I had spent about six weeks trying to calibrate my speakers with the free program, Room EQ Wizard (REW). REW is great for those with joint proficiency in both audio hardware and computers but for me, the complexity, second-guessing, time expenditure, unforeseen expenses, and above all the countless invisible variables were too much. I gave up on REW on the home stretch when I learned that to actually apply the EQ to my computer I would have to download several other programs including one called Audio Hijacker which seemed to need unlimited access to my computer.
Then I bought Sonarworks SoundID Reference and, with a little help from their support team, my speakers are up and running and they sound awesome. A SoundID calibration takes about 20 minutes and one drawback with it is that there’s no way to do a quick preliminary version for example if you want to test out small changes like bass trap placement etc. I guess that’s where REW comes in handy as a quick measuring tool. It might also be nice to have the option of doing a measurement that's more narrowly focused on a small listening sweet spot.
I did about 8 measurements with Sonarworks SoundID Reference before arriving at a final reading. That’s because I was getting some dips and peaks that exceeded 6 dB and I wanted to correct those large imbalances with speaker placement etc and save EQ for the final touches. It helped to adjust the volume knob on one of my speakers to compensate for too deep of a dip in that one speaker (and for the general quietness of that speaker). It helped to place an object halfway between the speakers on the same plane as a reference for exactly where to point the mic. It also helped to make sure the lower edge of the tweeters was pointing directly at my ear instead of the upper edge of the woofers and that the speaker's feet were adjusted so that the speaker tilt was exactly the same. Buying expensive speaker isolation stands also coincided with getting a better less jagged frequency reading and that might well have played a role. I'd say that, if you can afford it, you'll be glad you got Sonarworks SoundID Reference.”
“Sonarworks – SoundID performed well for me. It is a user-friendly software that allows me to optimize my audio recordings and bring them to a professional level. The audio correction is very effective and has greatly improved my sound. The support was not very motivated and left me disappointed. I'm satisfied with Sonarworks – SoundID in general.”
