“Downloaded the trial and tested calibrating with a microphone of my own. I noticed a big improvement in my mixing straight away. Decided to buy it and bought the calibrated microphone and wow a whole new world. I could not imagine my room boosted 120 Hz by 12 dB and this program corrects it. A big plus is that the program is really easy to use and guide you step by step through installation. 5/5 will never turn back. Its a must for mixing and mastering.”
“The Reference ID software only makes sense with the mic but that works fantastic in an accoustically untreated room. Being able to use different profiles is a real treat and makes a huge difference. The headphone profile - in my case it's the beyerdynamics 770 dt (250) - sound extremely flat and "boring" but I will not change it anyway because if the mix sounds interesting there it will sparkle on almost any hifi speaker system, so I consider this a good thing.”
“Absolutely useless. The company is unable to explain why there is an unbalance between the L/R when enabled. Furthermore, the software is causing some weird problem in the phase correlation and stereo image. I've sent video of the problem to support, and nobody had been able to explain why it is happening or how to fix it. Untruthworthy. How can anyone trust anything mixed or mastered through this software then?”
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
The "disbalance" you are observing is simply the calibration that applies for each channel - left and right. There is no additional information to the original signal. It is simply a slight volume increase to the other channel as every monitor is different and not identical. Some require a little more calibration to be flat whilst others don't.
If you require a more detailed explanation of how SoundID Reference works, please let us know by creating a support request in our support center. Thanks!
“My room is decently treated and I would call it a medium size. Just with this room correction software and a bit of treatment in the right spots it’s amazing a b ing back and forth listening to music that I know very well how much the lowmids have cleared up. I was very reluctant to buy this software thinking that I could figure the problems out myself. I guess I could’ve but didn’t have the time and my wife was already complaining about the amount of treatment that was on the walls and ceiling. So I figured that I would give this a try since it takes up no space. Pretty great but granted I would say you need treatment in your first reflection points and maybe some sort of basstraps but I can honesty say that I wish I would’ve bought this a couple years ago. Now while mixing my ears don’t get fatigued as quickly since all that low mid and uppermid information are not so pronounced. If anything try the free version first then get the paid version with the mic that is calibrated for the software like I did.”
“I was very impressed by the user-centric design of the app. The calibration experience was very smooth, and the UI very responsive in guiding through the many microphone positions.
As to the results, I haven't tested with a separate room eq solution, but subjectively it certainly corrected for my particular listening position better that I could manually (or at least better than I would have the patience to ;)).
PS. I like how the mic is packaged”
