“I replaced these with my pair of Sonos ones as rears, I did read a phew comments saying there’s no difference in sound but I disagree, the sound quality of these are far superior very happy they was a bit larger then I thought overall a good quality product”

“Sonos Era 300 vs One’s (as surrounds) I have a Beam Gen 2, Sub mini and 2x Ones as rear surrounds. After reading endless reviews of the Era 300’s I decided to purchase (UK based via a company offering a 30 days trial) so nothing to lose?! Initial thoughts- big, ugly and heavy… Honestly you cannot aesthetically have these in a ‘normal’ sized lounge/front room as rear speakers- they are enormous and heavy. Upon having my Sonos system (listed above for a year) I fired up the Era 300’s and did a Trueplay tune- I tried 4x Atmos enabled films (various scenes) and honestly noticed no more than an extra ‘Echo’ and more Bass, that was it. No better over-height frequencies, no extra enhancements, no more ‘Wow Factors’ Now I’m a big Sonos fan, I started with the Beam gen 1 about 2 years back, added the Ones as rears a few months later and I was blown away! Then I upgraded to the Beam gen 2 via the same retailer with the 30 day listen guarantee and it was a real upgrade to the Beam Gen 1 so I kept it. Then I did the same a few months later and added the sub, that was a gobsmacking upgrade- amazing improvement to sound so kept that. However the Era 300’s in this set up as a replacement for my One’s as rears- honestly for £450 each- terrible… I noticed barely any improvements, neither did my other half and we tried, we absolutely tried. I really wanted to keep them and was willing to pay the extra for the upgrade, we’d even planned where to put the existing One’s in the house to re-use as stand alone speakers but I honestly can’t even get close to giving a decent difference between the One’s as surrounds and the Era 300’s… Maybe it’s because we have a Beam Gen 2 and a sub; perhaps others upgrading do not have that pairing, or have never had One’s, or so on and so fourth… Absolutely appreciate that others will comment here to say the Era 300’s are the best thing since sliced bread; work for them, and will question where we had them placed, height settings and so on… I’m no Sonos guru, but after using for 1-2 years I know Trueplay, I get the app, adjust bass, treble, speech enhancement, night mode, compression settings and so on. Bottom line- they didn’t work for me- might for others but my overall option is that £450 a speaker vs whatever the One’s/Era 100’s cost is a no brainer- buy either of the latter. I did think before buying, when listening to my existing set up via decent Dolby Plus or DTS 5.1 content that surely it couldn’t get much better, and at the moment using Sonos equipment then my view is it can’t, unless I change manufacturer and spend silly money. I do hope this review helps.”

“Really happy with these. An upgrade from a pair of Ones for use in my lounge. Great for TV and fantastic for music when used in conjunction with an Arc. Amazing listening to Atmos music or Spatial. Really pleased.”
