This review will cover the functional aspects of the Sonos ERA 100 - there are plenty of reviews out there regarding the audio quality. I've been using a Bose Smart Speaker 300 for the past 18 months as my PC speaker (for work calls) and I wanted to give the ERA a try as there were a couple of things 'annoying' me with the Bose. I have two laptops connected to a single monitor (via USB C). I connect my MacBook via bluetooth and my Windows laptop through the USB C line-in adapter via the monitor. This means when I'm working on my Windows laptop - the audio automatically gets routed via the monitor (to the ERA) if I have an incoming Teams/Zoom call. This means when I switch between the two laptops I don't have to keep re-connecting the bluetooth connections each time. This is the perfect solution for me, now compared with the Bose: 1. Yes the audio quality is better than the Smart Home 300 but that alone wasn't the reason for replacing it with the ERA 100. 2. There is an idle time-out for Bluetooth and Line-in for the Bose. Which means if I'm working on my work laptop (Windows) I have to remember to press the Aux 'button' otherwise the monitor could be feeding audio to a 'powered off' speaker. Ie, I've joined Team meetings before when I don't have any audio because the idle time-out has kicked in. You don't have this problem with the ERA 100 as you can set Line-in to automatically enable when it detects a signal. 3. When I switch back to the Mac, if I set Bluetooth to persistent mode it will automatically re-connect without me doing anything! (Bluetooth idle time-out can be configured). In short this speaker handles the switching between input devices flawlessly - it's perfect for my work at home setup. The only thing you need to be aware of, if you're intending to use the ERA 100 as a PC speaker (via the Line-in adapter) you need to set the latency to 75ms (the default is 2000ms) otherwise the people in Teams/Zoom calls will hear they own voices with a 2 second delay.
