LipQ Liquorice & Melissa Lip Gel 15ml Reviews

4.8 Rating 94 Reviews
I purchased this and the matching lip balm. I used this first as I prefer the thinner, less greasy texture. I was in a period when I was getting a lot of blisters and within a week of use, I got another blister. It didn't seem to have much effect on day 1 and 2 of the blister. I swapped then to the lip balm and saw a drastic reduction in blister size, and over the coming days, duration. The lip balm has continued to be more effective over time. It's a nice lip salve but not one I will invest in again. For the price, it's a poor purchase. Get the lip balm instead. Although perhaps camping when things can melt in the heat, I may have to use this.

If I feel a cold sore coming on, I alternate between acyclovir and this gel. I find using the gel keeps my lips soft and hydrated, meaning no horrible cracked scabs, which is what happens if I use just the cream. I also use the gel if I think my lips are dry and I could potentially get a cold sore - it then stops one coming, and I now only get one if I accidentally scratch or bang my lip.

Having used this gel now on a couple of cold sores that I have had, although it did not stop them from coming, they have not been as painful and ugly looking as they normally are. In addition the sores cleared up a lot more quickly than normally. Yes the price is rather expensive for the volume that you get, but so far, I have been really impressed with this product and the balm which I bought together as one pack. I am just about to reorder another batch whilst we have this horrid cold weather, so I am well prepared!

A friend recommended that I try the lip balm as I have had cold sores for many many years and tried absolutely everything without any success. Having read the reviews & being very sceptical I still thought I give it a try, so I ordered both the lip gel & the lip balm together, at the end of October. My products arrived just after a cold sore started on my top lip. I used both the gel at night before going to bed and the balm throughout the day. Although the cold sore still came out, it was not as painful as they normally are & it only lasted for a week whereas I normally have them for at least two to three weeks. Neither gel nor the balm stop the cold sore coming out, but it may have been because I only got both products the day after it had started. Hopefully now I have everything I hope that it stops them from coming, only time will tell, but I am very pleased how quickly the gel & balm got rid of the blisters & cleared it up so quickly.

I've been using this twice a day for years and found it fantastic in dramatically reducing the occurrence of cold sores. In fact I rarely get a cold sore apart from when I don't use this product because I've run out and forgotten to reorder. Imagine my horror when I found out that it's out of stock and won't be back in stock for 3 months!!!!!! I've got through January and half of February with what I've got but dread to think what the rest of Feb, March and April will bring :-(

My lips are dry and dehydrated and this is making a slight difference but still not the answer I'm looking for ... not making it worse though which most stuff does!

I found this gel really does work to minimise cold sore outbreaks. Best to use as prevention when one feels run down and expects a cold sore. I also take Lysine and liquorice supplements and this together with the lip gel is a very effective and natural remedy/
