I love what the watch is capable of performing however there are too many times when the clubs tag is not picked up by the watch which leads to having to guess as to where the shot should be placed which creates inaccuracy in club distances. Another issue is that as soon as you step on the green the watch goes right to number of putts prior to putting. This makes it impossible for me to determine if my putter has been recognized.

The X5 has some great features and I really like being able to track my club distances, but I’ve been disappointed in the reliability. I’m on my 3rd watch as the first two stopped working after a couple of months. Shotscope has been great at replacing them.

Shot tracking is flaky at best. When wet, just a little damp, it goes haywire. No amount of prodding on the watch face corrects it. The GPS gets it wrong if 2 holes cross over, or are parallel to one another, with the watch switching holes. The crown bezel is way too hypersensitive and often alters the display from what I want, just by the act of swinging the club. The editing software is clunky, not intuitive and awkward to use. This watch is really not great value for money.

Wearing a watch on the lead wrist makes automatic shot detection flawless - that's the only reason to prefer this over the H4, which you have to manually bring the sensor in range (read touch) of the unit. The other good thing is that the standard view distance to the front, middle, back is clear and simple. Everything else requires some interaction and the UI just gets in the way, so I don't bother anymore. Also, when scoring, the watch often moves on to the next hole, when I'm still putting, which is irksome, but I've learned to ignore it, record my score on paper and figure it all out back home.

When this product is working well it would be 5 stars however my X5 is currently missing approx 12 shots a round, at one point it didn’t miss any ( May be due to the recent firmware update?)

I like the fact that the watch comes with the tags. Sometimes it does miss the tags so you have to look at the watch to make sure it corresponds with the club you're about to or have just hit. It doesn't like the rain. The touchscreen all but shuts down if there's any sort of moisture on it. The sensitivity of the touchscreen has got better with the latest update to the firmware. I've found the yardages to be pretty much spot on with other devices. The battery could be better. Can easily get 1 round out of it but you'll be surprised at how much battery life just disappears when using it as a normal watch. Very rare that I don't have to charge it every day. I think that because it comes with the tags is the major usp over other watches. It can be a pain to upload and edit/sign off your rounds on the dashboard and that's when you find out how many shots it's missed during the round. I've often gone home knowing I was 7 over but Shotsscope has me down for a 64. Once you put the scorecard onto the dashboard you can see all your shots but if that feature was 'live' they would have a real winner.

Having had a very good experience with the V3 watch, when the X5 was offered at an introductory price with extra features, it was hard to turn down. Initially I had inexperience user problems, ie swiping was inconsistent and the crown dial took some getting used to. The only major problem I had was the watch going back to the clock face during a round, this was sorted due to a couple of firmware updates, the latest update 2.1.58 made using the watch on the course much easier. Having used the watch for some 60 rounds now, I'm more than happy with it, the watch and app system evaluate my game to a high degree. One gripe I have with the watch, is it doesn't function well when exposed to rain. Maybe a future firmware upgrade will solve this.
