I was one of the first people to get the X5 at first i found a few teething problems but most if not all have been ironed out by the Shotscope staff. It improves with every update . It really out scores the other golf watches . Very happy

Been using the X5 for most of the year, about 25 rounds logged and several more just using the GPS guide without tracking my club distances. Shot Scope has been awesome at updating the firmware to make the UI better and actually listening to user feedback. GPS has been quick to connect and battery life is enough for 2 rounds. I've been in contact several times to request a course update due to temporary holes or course layout changes all requests have been completed within 48 hours, and outstanding service.

The X5 gives you actual playing distances for each club. On the driving range, I'm able to drive the golf ball much farther compared to actual rounds of golf. With the X5 I can see the actual playing distances for each club. And when you learn your real playing distance, it makes choosing the right club for each shot much easier. You also get much more information about your gameplay. It can show what part of your game you need to practice. It also lets you replay that great shot when you look back at the round on your cell phone or computer. And it keeps each round played in your playing history. So much information! Also, there are no annual fees to pay.

Excellent golf watch and data, especially for those with a more analytical approach, and a good upgrade from the previous versions. A couple of small gripes - some of the screen information is too tiny to read comfortably, such as the time and hole number/par info, and I always seem to scroll the wheel the wrong way... But the data analysis tools are great and give a deep insight into your strengths and weaknesses, especially the strokes gained vs. different benchmark handicaps which suggest areas and parts of the game to work on. The only weakness is that the aerial photos that the course layouts are built from are sometimes out of date - for example, my home course has modified several greens complexes since the last aerial photo pass and consequently some of these areas are out of date. However, the watch is a great tool whether you use it for just distance measurements or for the wealth of data and tools that you can build over time. You can choose how deep you want to dive to explore your golf game.

If you don't play golf every day and still want a nice watch for daily use, then don't buy the X5. The battery life is 14 times worse than my V3. The V3 lasts about two weeks between charges off-season so I wear it every day. The X5 barely lasts one day, so I put my V3 back on if I won't be playing. Granted, the new features the X5 offers while playing golf are better than my V3, but the X5 only has value on the course.

From the outset, it took a little time to get used to the new watch after upgrading from the V3. However now after logging dozens of games with it, I find that it is so indispensable that I would never go back to any other system.

I was debating on which watch to get the Garmin or the Shotscope. The lure of all the stats got me to go with the Shotscope partially due to price. I look at the metrics and some of them are interesting, but I have to understand them, and it’s not the easiest! Shots gained, does that mean +/-? I like it because it shows my distances. The watch itself is nice, but the Garmin is really nice. It misses a few shots a round which I have been learning more on how to fix. I have to keep my score on the card, and then look back, “to see what the watch missed” Getting better, I think there has been 5 or 6 firmware updates since I got it. I appreciate the effort, but, sometimes there are just so many steps to get to what you want. All in all “A nice watch”
