Great watch, especially after recent updates. Does what says on the tin. Good information from the tracking system.

Very happy with the V3 and upgraded to the X5 but on the X5 the buttons are all on the right hand edge of the screen. As left handers must wear the watch on the top hand (right hand) then it’s awkward to press the buttons using the left hand and flexing the wrist can accidentally push buttons. Solution would have been to change the button positions to the opposite side. Oh well

X5 easy to work, not required to carry phone, good display, simple to use. Some hiccups with positioning each shot and appears to be caused by GPS connection issues in remote parts of golf course. Easy to correct when editing after download.

Overall the watch is great. I have found it sometimes gets on the wrong hole and it is more difficult than the V3 watch I had to get it back on the correct hole. It's probable just me but I preferred the strap on the V3 to the X5

Love this watch but can be quite fiddly to access the button if you are a left handed golf wearing it on the right wrist Still a brilliant bit of kit and I love the shot tracking and misses very few shots

Pros: Total cost. Great price point for the watch with sensors included. No subscription. Regular updates to the watch by the ShotScope team. Really good data provided on the interface. Ability to measure to hazards. Cons: Watch doesn’t operate hardly at all in the rain. Jumps holes, enters and exits the game menu and overall just jumpy. Can’t use the dial or touchscreen in the rain rendering it useless. If you have a chip just short of the green it thinks you’re on the green and goes into pin collect mode. You have to enter the menu and exit out of pin collect to record the club and shot used for the chip. The when you get on the green you have to enter the menu to get back into pin collect mode. This takes too much time away from golfing and your playing partners just stare at you while you mess with the watch. I use manual putting mode to make sure all of my putts are recorded because automatic putting wouldn’t pick all of them up. Pin collect is an easy and good feature that you find on majority of gps watches however, when I go back to look/edit my rounds the pins are NEVER in the correct position that I collected them in so why have the feature if it doesn’t work at all? This also makes the data/statistics collected for putting cloudy as you have to guess exactly where the pin is and then adjust a bunch of your putts. Seems very glitchy. I got into the habit of touching the club sensors to my watch band before every shot because it misses a lot of shots for me if not. You spend a lot of time messing with this watch if you have to enter penalty strokes, hit anything close to but not on the green or walk on or around the green to get to a ball around but not on the green. I literally find myself walking way away from/around the green to try and make pin collect mode not initiate because it’s crazy annoying to enter the menu and scroll to get out of it only to have to do the same thing to get back into it once you’re on the green. This and the performance during rainy conditions are my biggest annoyances with this watch. It started to slow me down, make me think about the watch and not the shot I needed to hit and overall took a lot of the fun out of golfing. I haven’t been able to find a way to disable the touchscreen to help on rainy/misty days. I would ask customer service but a response could take weeks. Especially if they are working on updates for the watch/interface. I previously had the V3 by ShotScope and while it doesn’t look as modern it was a great watch. Easy navigation and does everything this watch does except without the touchscreen and score keeping (which makes you mess with the watch more during your round) and the battery life probably isn’t as good as the X5 which you can squeak by playing two rounds on a day with depending upon pace of play.

Got my X5 at the beginning of the season having previously been a V3 user. I use it as a daily watch and the X5 certainly looks better and is an improvement over the V3. The touchscreen function has improved after the latest software update and is now smoother and more reliable. The new tags have improved the reliability of the shot tracking, although the occasional missed shot occurs and records random shots at the same point on my course, not sure why but easily enough corrected when editing my round. It also tends to move ahead a hole and you have to manually adjust. I'm not a fan of the game menu with functions like recording a provisional shot hidden away, and I rarely use the green view function. While visually an improvement over the V3 with the touch screen nice, If had my time again I would probably have stuck with my V3.
