“Sorry I cannot recommend this. The manufacturer's drivers (for Raspi at least) do not work with recent OS versions and that seems to have been true for a while. Someone forked a driver version that was more OS version agnostic but that was also years ago and no longer works.
I understand the manufacturers continuing production for people who have built products around the board, but shouldn't be selling it to others with no software support.
trying the Pirate Audio dual mic instead ...”
“At the time of writing, the only way to get this working with Bullseye and PicoVoice (and perhaps other software), is to install the drivers in an unofficial fork of the software by HinTak. Seeed's support and updates are severely lacking.”
“A great little gadget for a DIY voice assistant project. The built-in button, addressable LEDs, and additional ports are really handy.
There are a couple of minor design flaws:
- Unfortunately, the ports have 3.3v as opposed to 5v pins which means the usual selection of 5v components won't work here.
- There doesn't seem to be any echo cancellation hardware, so if your device is playing music, say, then it struggles to hear any commands.
- The end of the board with the USB power input extends too far so it does not fit inside the official Raspberry Pi case.”
“Works great as an audio out for my Pi Zero W, and the mic array can be so good at picking up distant voices.
I do wish that the GPIO female header on the pHAT was a lower profile top-mount one though, to make the two connected boards slimmer, but that’s not a reason to change the rating in my eyes.”
