“The official 27W psu works flawlessly to power the pi5. However, as I understand itm it infringes the PD industry standards. A PD psu shouldny be able to provide 5V at 5A. So, not sure why they didnt stick to the standards and design the pi5 to accept higher power at hight voltages. The issue is you have to buy this particular psu or you will have issues.”
“Works great and got rid of the annoying low voltage warning and icon that was constantly on the screen. I had been using a 4 amp supply with nothing but the Pi 5 attached so I knew the issue was something else. In reading the Pi 5 notes from RaspberryPi.org, I found the supply must have the PD (?) spec cable as the Pi 5 circuitry is looking for that to insure there was sufficient power.
My only mistake was in my hurry to order it, I accidentally ordered the UK plug instead of the US plug. 'My bad'. Fortunately I was able to buy a UK to US power adaptor and did not have to wait again for the shipping delay to get the correct plug on a new power supply.”
