“This does its job perfectly well in that my Raspberry Pi works on PoE now. However, one slight annoyance, is that if you power the Raspberry Pi on its USB connector, the fan spins and stalls and you have to remove the Pi HAT+. That's not a big problem as the whole point is not to use the USB power socket but it is a bit annoying as you have to keep removing the Pi HAT+ if you want to take the Raspberry Pi temporarily off the PoE source in order to perform any setup or test.”
“The POE hat works great with my pi 3b+ and pi 4b. i had to remove 1 of the fan screws to prevent interferance with the heatsink. U also had to make some minor mods to my case to get it to fit. Over an excelent product and allowed me to free up 3 power outlets.
I ended up ordering from a uk based seller as amazon sellers were charging too much and the few places i managed to find that had the boards in stock were charging way to much.”
“Works as expected.
Notes on heatsinks:
- didn't fit Pi 4+ with the multiple small silver heatsinks (were too high)
- fit the big "full-coverage" rectangle heatsink but required slightly bigger standoff screws (i had a pack of brass ones from aliexpress sitting around).”
“It does what it says it does. I have it working on a Raspberry Pi4 8Gb unit. Whilst the supplied fan did not keep the PRi cool enough I was able to mount it vertically using a right angled extender board https://www.amazon.com/Connectors-Raspberry-40-pin-Expansion-RAS-GP02/dp/B07MCW4KCM/ref=sr_1_16?keywords=raspberry+pi+header+extender&qid=1637977627&sr=8-16
which gave room for a vertical ice tower cooler.”
“Not as good as the previous POE HAT, while it might be able to provide more power this one on a Pi 4 with a non POE+ injector got warmer than my standard POE hat also on a Pi 4.
The fan is also much more noticable which is annoying.
Also doesn't fit in the Official RPI case like the previous did either.”
“Got a PoE switch at home? Want to cut down on the wiring? Get this new version of the PoE HAT for your Pi 4.
Works first-time, every time, and with a quiet fan on-board it helps to keep the Pi cool as well.
I’ve not had any power or heat problems while using this. Just don’t try to power the Pi with your usual USB power supply while the HAT is in place - it won’t work.
There are cases available that will accommodate this HAT, and I’m shopping around for one now.
All-in-all, a good purchase.”
