“I bought this DAC HAT to give super powers to the Pi 3 that runs my Plex media server. I wanted to plug the Pi into my AV Receiver so that I can use it to listen to the music that's in my Plex library. To do this I also installed plexamp on the Pi and the Plex app on my mobile, which can then control plexamp on the Pi.
The DAC was detected by the Pi with no problems. I did update /boot/config.txt to disable the onboard sound. I'm mostly playing MP3s ripped from CDs using iTunes, so the source quality isn't the highest it could be (e.g. FLAC), but it plexamp Just Works and it all sounds good.
I'm well pleased with this DAC; now to find a case that I like that will fit the Pi whilst wearing it....”
