Great product, would definitely recommend new people to look at the raspberry pi website ( www.raspberrypi.org ) as they have everything you need there The community is great! Make sure you get one

Well, not much to say about the actual product, you can see all the details on the store. The latest Raspbian works pretty well, even Youtube playback is OK at 720p, due to the plugin that comes with Chromium. It heats up a bit on intensive tasks (an YouTube video play + apt-get update, for example), and you get a heat warning on the top right of the screen (I think it can be disabled - I haven't too much time playing with the Pi). Small Heatsinks don't help much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6okZKRwnTQ). So far it seems that you need a large heatsink to see good improvements (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AYGnw6MwFM), but it's not feasible (at least for me). Anyway, this is not such a big thing, I think it can withstand pretty high temperatures. One thing missing from the site's description is the fact that Pimoroni is selling Raspberry Pies from both manufacturers: the Element 14 and the RS (I've got both). Even though there's technically no difference between them, there are some small differences: the Element 14 package is neater, inside the cardboard case, the Pi has it's own cardboard bag, while the RS one comes in a standard plastic foil. The two interfaces (DSI and CSI) are white on black for the Element 14, and black on white + a protective foil for the RS, and also they have slightly different shapes. The USB ports have different stamps. I didn't see any difference in the board's colour, even though I've seen a comparison on YouTube where there was.

Superb little device but beware, it will take up a lot of your time in the most delightful and at times infuriating way. Old games controllers and scrap electronic devices are given a new lease of life once you realize how easy it is be to integrate donated parts into your project. Recommend the Pi over all the other similar devices because none of the others have anywhere near the level of community and support. Cant fault the guys at PImoroni. Honest prices and great customer service.

I think that every computer hobbyist should have one of this. Do you want your own VPN server? Or your media server? mini computer for your kids? This can do all of that and more. And when you consider the price and the community support, there is no thing better out there.

I have two of these: one as a NAS with OMV/Plex, and one as a development server.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't really tried using anything like this in the past but once I had bought the Pi and get set up I was away without any problems. Its such a great product with a real sense that you can just pick it up and get started and feel like some sort of Computer Wizard. I had no end of fun.

I don't need a USB WiFi/BT dongle anymore! The two more USB slots can be used for USB disk now.
