“I wanted a low cost Pi to stream Radio Paradise (RP) FLAC to my bedroom old Denon amp with older still danish speakers. I love Volumio as it works well and also has a RP pluggin. I was worried that rendering web pages could be very slow on the ZERO W but its quite reasonable using my android phone over wifi. It reported a 72 M b/s connection which has proven solid.
I connected my admirable PHAT DAC onto the Zero and Found better than expected improvements to Bass, Separation, detail and subtelty. (compared to Roku Soundbridge own DAC)
What i find interesting streaming Flac to existing hifi is that many of the apparent limitations of the Amp & speakers are actually limitations of the source signal, leaving you with a truly uplifted system. Zero W plus Phat Dac is a great combination at very little cost.”
