“The only problem I have with this is that you can't boot from it. If you look and read before you buy (which I didn't) they tell you as much in the description.”
Ahoy Paul
It should now be possible to boot from drives connected via NVMe Duo, if you update your firmware to the most recent version :)

“Looks/feeds like it is good quality. Currently I only have one spare NVME card to plug into it, but I will buy another soon. I wanted this Duo adapter to be able to have a backup copy of my files on the second NVME, and this was a more frugal/tidier/efficient solution than buying a second RPi and linking them over network cable. Main things to be aware, if you are not already, the NVME disks cannot be used as the boot disk, also the speed is limited to gen2, but in both cases I was ok with these limitations. I would have preferred an overhead hat than a base. So far my usage has not been very stressful on the single disk, so I have not noticed any problems with heat, and hopefully this will continue when I add the second disk.”
“Product works as advertised and great speeds with NVME. Two small criticisms:
1. Please send assembly instructions with the product or at least a QR code to digital instructions. This would have made things much simpler for me.
2. The ribbon cable and the data port aren't super sturdy. Please consider possibly using a port similar to the one Rpi foundation uses on the pi5 on the next revision. I wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks. :)”
“It works, but with some caveats.
If you are using higher capacity nvme drives (2tb/4tb) you will need to provide extra power via the on board 5v/ground connectors. Soldering is needed. Would have been nice if there was a JST female connector already soldered.
Using M2 standoffs and scews for mounting the nvme drives is a bit odd. What is wrong with M2.5? I had to source my own screws because the provided screw heads were not wide enough to hold the drives.
The ribbon could be longer.
Even if the price would double using a gen3 switch, I would have liked to have that buying option.”
