“It's Working great. My Raspberry Pi 5 is now equipped with this 500GB M2 NVMe SSD drive.
The instructions to set up the drive are clear and all is working fine.
Booting from the microSD with RaspberryPiOS. then using rpi-imager to install it on the SSD ... Et voilĂ
I didn't physically follow the instructions : my NVMe Base board is side by side with my Raspberry Pi 5 to fit inside my SmartiPi Touch Pro case.”
“Used the imager software on the Raspberry Pi 5 running from an SD card, via the Image program, then rebooted and changed the dtparms to use the version 3 PCI-e and then removed the SD card and booted up without problems. Now going to produce (MariaDB) an Environment database for my home. Then in a few months will be able to control the heating better with radiator controls.”
“Excellent! Fits neatly under the Pi 5 and performs well. A case designed to fit the NVMe base would be good, but for the time being you can cut notches to accommodate the ribbon cable in levels 1 - 4 of a standard Pibrow Pi 5 case. The redundant base level of the case may then be mounted on four 12mm M3 standoffs to provide a ventilated top for the whole assembly, clear of the active cooler - see picture.”
“Simple to set up with the help of the Pimoroni video and the instructions on Pimoroni's web page, and the system boots very quickly from the NVMe drive. The connecting cable is well-designed and sits very nicely between the NVMe Base and the Pi, although it is a little fiddly to fit. Works extremely well - highly recommended.”
