“The NVMe base is music have, with it booting up fully in 17 seconds (RP OS); I couldn't be happier with the purchase and it was worth the small price.”
“4 hours of assembly & reassembly, the 500 GB Patriot SSD stiil cant be seen by the Pi5 imager. I got a fantastic Pi5 thats working great. It's just not seeing the SSD. Working from a anti-static mat & totally familular how to handle computer components, this has got me tired, cranky & STUMPED! I do believe we have a case of "Infant Mortality Syndrome" with a DOA SSD, or a DOA PIM699. I'm afraid if I keep messing with it all I WILL wind up breaking something so I'm throwing up the BS Flag and notifying Support.”
“Didn't work to begin with. Huge frustration. Careful inspection with the magnifier on my phone and finally found the user error. The ribbon connector on the pi 5 board did not have the locking push piece fully seated. After that worked like a dream. Trying to install ubuntu server on it was fine until I tried to re-partition the drive. I messed that up and then because I'd set the boot order to be NVME first, it just locked up and I couldn't do anything. Disconnected the pesky ribbon connector, booted from sd card, changed the boot order back to sd card first. connected the ribbon connector, re imaged the NVME, repartitioned the NVME, ripped out the SD card and bingo. My advice, keep the boot order as SD card first and then rip the sd card out and keep for emergencies. Overall, I love running a fast enough pi5 with a fast enough NVME and not paying huge sums in running costs. The base from pimoroni works and I'll be getting another in the future.”
“Great product.
The instructions on the web page along with the YouTube instructions are all that are needed.
The speed of the Pi5 is amazing with this base adaptor. Airflow to the top of the Pi is unrestricted as well as access to gpio pins.”
