The Pimoroni NVMe Base is economical, well designed and easy to assemble. The S-shaped PCIe Pipe flex cable is a really nifty innovation, allowing you to insert and remove the Pi's Micro SD card as easily as if the base wasn't there, which is a major improvement on competing designs. The only way the design could be improved would be to put the M-key NVMe SSD on the other (bottom) side of the Base, which would make it possible to swap SSDs without having to remove the Base from the Raspberry Pi.

had to order a second one as I broke the ribbon cable clamp on my first (my fault thinking it pushed up rather than swiveled)

Got today the packet from the Mail, just after lunch. Took more time to carefully tear open the envelope and the SSD package than assembly the board and the disk. Another 10 minutes to download and format the SSD and then select the NVMe for boot. Worked like a charm. Excellent!

The NVMe base is music have, with it booting up fully in 17 seconds (RP OS); I couldn't be happier with the purchase and it was worth the small price.

Installation was straight forward without issue. The youtube video was helpful for the thin cable. Using Rasberry Pi OS. Works great!

4 hours of assembly & reassembly, the 500 GB Patriot SSD stiil cant be seen by the Pi5 imager. I got a fantastic Pi5 thats working great. It's just not seeing the SSD. Working from a anti-static mat & totally familular how to handle computer components, this has got me tired, cranky & STUMPED! I do believe we have a case of "Infant Mortality Syndrome" with a DOA SSD, or a DOA PIM699. I'm afraid if I keep messing with it all I WILL wind up breaking something so I'm throwing up the BS Flag and notifying Support.
