24/02/02 1. Easy/intuitive to mount and hook up to the Pi hardware. 2. Very quick once PCIe Ver 3.0 is enabled. Note: Pi OS install on the NVMe is a bit fiddly. One needs to install Pi OS on a SDRAM card initially, and boot up with it. This isn't clearly stated in the offfical video. Other video instructions I located for NVMe Pi OS install, are vague and refer to using "Pi Imager". However Pi imager doesn't appear by that name in any of the menus on my copy Pi OS. SD copier is what does the job, which is more straightforeward/simpler once you figure out it is what is needed. But the different name and user interface is confusing. Someone needs to correct the existing tutorial(s) or the less technical may become disillusioned...

This is the perfect addition to my Pi 5 8GB mounted on the back of a Roadon 10 in. Touch Display. - Assembly was easy. - A complete hardware kit was supplied, but I grabbed some stand-offs that fit my particular installation. - The offset cable is ingenious to allow access to the SD card. - I fired it up and it connected. - I used the Pi Imager on my SD Card installation to install PiOS. - I then reconfigured using RonR's multi-boot utility 'mb.' We had to do a little debugging to make it work with the NVMe device. - MB was used to reconfigure GPT partitioning, removing the MBR limits and installing Ubunto Desktop 23.10. It is also used to choose between boots. - I then changed to PCIe3 and changed the boot order. The card and supplied 512GB SSD are fast and reliable so far. Since I do not use it as a media server, I am not sure, what I will do with the wealth of space. This is a GREAT card at a reasonable price.

It worked perfectly. For the current raspberry pi os, you just need to upgrade the system and reboot and it should detect the nvme. To upgrade system: $sudo apt update $sudo apt upgrade After reboot it should detect the nvme. The output from the following command should display the nvme: $lsblk Hope this helped.

Base itself is great, works out of the box according to the guide on the web. However the bundle with nvme drive is not so great. Pricing Patriot P300 512GB at 40.5 GBP is quite a lot when exactly same drive can be bought new from retail for 29.1 GBP.

It's a very nice product, well-conceived, and easy to install. I would have preferred textual instructions and pictures instead of a video, but the important is that there are instructions.
