“There is absolutely no queation of should you put nvme on your pi5, the performance increase says it all.
Can't even imagine going back to sd card. And its not even that expensive for a 500gb drive. So much storage as well. Very happy with purchase.”
“I am no hardware guy. Not even close. I wanted the NVMe BASE HAT, but I also feared it a bit.
But the package was complete, clear and easy to use. The instructions on youtube were perfect. Within 30 minutes I not only had my NVMe SSD connected, I also had my Pi 5 boot from it, at high speed, without the least problem.
In other words, I love it.”
“I ordered a RPI 5, power supply and active cooler with an Pimoroni NVME base and 512GB NVME drive. The base was a pre-order, so it took a couple of weeks before it shipped... but once it shipped it got to my home in Indiana,USA in just a few days .. surprisingly fast. All was easy to assemble. Once together, the pi and cooler worked great, but the NVME drive was not being detected. On closer examination I found that I had not inserted the ribbon cable properly (it was a little crooked), so I corrected that problem, reassembled, and everything worked perfectly and has continued to work perfectly.
I had a couple of occasions to contact Customer Service with questions and was impressed with how quickly and pleasantly they were able to help me. Very nice people.
Hoping there will be a PI case for the NVME-base-equipped PI at some point.. I like seeing the bare bones, but don't want it to collect too much dust ..
All in all, very happy with Pimoroni and their products and staff. Thanks.”
“I'm grate satisfied. I installed Ubuntu Desktop 23.10(64bit). I'm maintaining to develop environment.
I was amazed because "pyenv install 3.12.1" time was only 3 minutes 57 seconds.”
“Having watched a number of reviews of NVME HAT/bases for the RPi 5 I chose this one because it gave access to the sd card slot. I have been very pleased with the quality of the build and the installation instructions. The drive and base combination (both from Pimoroni) work flawlessly and make the Pi5 fly along.”
