Excellent product! Compared to a competitour product I also bought, the Pimoroni base are very well designed and easy to mount on the Pi with a surplus of mounting screws etc.

[ Funfamental : Jan 19, 2024] Today, I have just received "My lovely NVMe Base Board" from PIMORONI. Why I sellect this board: I want to enter the new world ( cheap, however light-speed for personal deskwork on the screen), so past several weeks ago - I planed to buy the new RIG ( RPI5 + NVME Base ) from PIMORONI. Forunately, I have extra NVMe M2. SSD ( that was used within Hacintosh Rig). So, I stand now on the new wolrd. 1. One word after using the good players ( RPI5 + NVME Base ) : "Fantastic !!" 2. I spent almost 1 hour to complete the installation and test it with my for RPI5(8GB) board. The YouTube video "guide for Install NVMe Base board" from PIMORONI is very useful. 3. The most difficult work-point is "to insert one of Special ribbon cable-edges ( thin and curved design ) put into the RPI5 board". I think - if any guide "Red Line Mark"( that show the how putting in deep correctly) is very helpful for Biginner. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 1: Please DO NOT forget to add PCIE_PROBE=1 into the rpi-eeprom-config file Or, you may hard to boot from NMVe Base ( with some NVMe m2.SSD ) since the rpi-eeprom file is updarted weeks by weeks. # "sudo rpi-eeprom-config --edit" - latest update is two line like # "BOOT_ORDER=0xf146" & "PCIE_PROBE=1" ------------------------------------------------------- Note 2: Tips & Hint for making a backup by SD Card Copier tool, and prepare the SD card for emergency boot - Making a backup by SD Card Copier It is the best backup method to utilize standard SD copy , because its voule contet will be copyed to another disk ( with different Partition ID ) - not only to SD card also USB3 SDD usable. - Prepare the SD card for emergency boot I recomend that 1st priority Bood device should be a SD card ( device not for NVMe SDD). SD card is cheap but lower-disk-speed , HOWEVER only DD card is bottable (if NVMe/USB SSD is disadle in trouble ). Therefore, it shoukd be prepared before Any Happen of "NVMs SDD disabled" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 3: Easy Overclocking (without any apping overvoltage ) for RPI5-8GB The overclocking for RP5-8GB can be done under the Own-responsibility. To adjust ( added on ) voltage is powerfull , but it may be broken any part of RPI5-8GB board. Today, I have sucesssfly reached the weak-overclocking-point with followng specification in the boot/firmware/config.txt. "# Set the Arm A76 core frequency (in MHz; default 2400). arm_freq=2800" "# Set the VideoCore VII core frequency (in MHz; default 800). gpu_freq=933" PS: For stable and safety runing on RPI5-8GB, following components( Best conbination) for RPI5-(GB are highly required. RPI5 Official active Cooler RPI5 Official 27 PSU ------------------------------ [ Jan 25, 2024 : Next Challenge - RPi5 board Qty : single to multi --- for "Parallel Clustering with OOP ( Mathematica / Wolfram language ) ] Within a few weeks, I have already ordered a RPI5-8GB boards - total two time. And , Today(Jan 24, 2024) I re-construct the RPI5 RIGS ( consisted of RPI5-8GB by Qty:3 as attached figure(picture). * Revised 6 @ Jan 27, 2024

I just got NVMe Base and installed it without any problems (SSD Kingston M.2 PCIe NVMe 1TB NV2). However, I have two remarks: - The cable between the MVMe base and RPI5 makes the SD card slot practically inaccessible. Any future revision of this board should correct this! - RPI OS has no way to temporarily disable the NVMe (thus enabling USB BOOT). That makes the NVMe base practically useless for anybody who needs often to change OS configurations or switch between different OSes. To put a physical switch that enables/disables the NVMe would make a good product a great product!

The Raspberry Pi 5 is begging for the Pimoroni NVMe Base. I live "across the pond" so it took a bit for it to get to me. I received it yesterday. I installed it immediately and am delighted by the performance. I'm using a Samsung 980 M2 drive. Nice directions on line. Thank you Pimoroni. This was definitely worth the price (actually a bargain) and wait. I will order from Pimoroni again soon!
