“This is a great kit. Had really helped my programming skills as I have made a web interface for simple controls to change the colours and brightness. Also learnt about JSON queries for morning light / night light for my daughter. Your only limit is your imagination.”
“The kit arrived speedily and proved to be easy to assemble and produce results that I expect will encourage my grandson to delve into the world of electronics and coding - brilliant thanks.”
“A fun piece of kit - it's going to stand on a shelf in my classroom. I might even add a noise sensor and change the code to get redder as it gets louder. The only real problem was attaching the LED strip to the terminals - my eyes are not what they used to be! I've also used the lights in a lab flask as an attraction for an open evening”
“a bit of winter cheer
suffering from the 'seasonal virus' and being unable to sleep, i had a lot of time on my hands. luckily the weekly mailer came in offering this cheerful chappy. supply lines having recovered, he was with me two days later. the nesting dolls approach to packaging, heightened the excitement of getting to the actual product, then i spent the back end of sick leave messing about with both the wifi features of the pico and the fascinating lights in this kit. is the skull worth the best option? i'd say it was just a-head of the others.”
“This kit is well constructed, but boy is it a pain in the bum to actually do anything with! Micropython codebase just doesn't exist for anything particularly useful. Creating code for pretty patterns is one thing, but actually interfacing with it without a computer is a royal pain. Tried a number of different web server backends including "phew", and nothing particularly works in a way which actually makes any sense! Why did we switch to Micropython over Arduino / C. Because the code wasn't obtuse enough? Because it sure is now!”
“Perfect kit for CheerLights! The default MicroPython code connects to ThingSpeak to get the latest color. The RGB LED lights are easy to hook up and give you flexible options for lighting things up. I made a FearLights project with the skull bottle and used the LED lights for two custom projects: CheerLights Gift and an illuminated Lo-Fi Girl Shadowbox.”
