“I’ve wanted to get back into coding (after a childhood of BBC Micro coding, DOS etc.) after giving up on all that jazz during my uni days.
The Pi Zero W is perfect, moreso with the starter kit. I was up and running in no time. The joy of lighting a single LED was profound!
Pro-tip: If you can’t be doing with soldering (a battle for another day for me) you can order a Pi Zero W with a pre-soldered header block and the rest is plug’n’play.”
“Bought this out of sheer curiosity. The pins needs to be soldered onto the PCB in order to connect it with the Blinkt! Besides some soldering it was up and running in no time. Found lots of support that made it easy to use and other interesting stuff on the web page of Pimoroni. The Zero is a bit slower than the Pi 3, but still a great start for programming! Looking forward to do some more experiments with other pHATs in the future!”
“Product arrived safely and all parts are working as expected.
Great experience in assembling and tinkering this product.
Looking forward to having the other kits to continue studying on how to control hardware using Python.”
“Fast and excellent service, my Pi Zero W arrived only after a day and it contained everything I needed to get started (just make sure you have a HDMI monitor and keyboard/mouse, you'll only need them once though, as once you do your initial set up you can just ssh into your Pi).
The Blinkt! unit is a lovely gadget for a reduced price and it's a great way to get started with your Raspberry Pi output. Definitely recommend it!”
“I gave this to a bunch of young brothers (10, 8 and 6) and they didn't stop hassling me until I'd showed them how to solder (I did that bit myself) and put everything together with them.
The Blinkt and the associated examples on the Pimoroni site are a perfect intro to Python programming. Plus there are stickers!
And then they jump onto the Minecraft Pi edition and play with that. Next bit is doing Flint and Steel in Minecraft using the Python interface.
Well done Pimoroni. You guys are on it.”
