“I was apprehensive after seeing some of the other reviews, but this has worked flawlessly for me straight out of the box. I've used the Badger W and Plasma pico boards before and expected to have to program this myself, but the pre-installed software has done all I need, sending readings to an endpoint programmed in Python on a Pi. Only thing to note is that powered by micro usb the temperature reading was 3-4C high, need to power it through the battery connector so that it sleeps properly between readings.”
“The board is designed great and does work if you can code and can fix the current issues it has, but support & updates to the firmware are non existant.
The git page is OUT of date as is the firmware and the only support is from other users/owners.
We were promised support would get better at the start of 2024 but still nothing has happened & this could be turning into a white elephant if it is not supported by Pimoroni.
Other ESP32 project boards are available from other sources that do have better support than this product. If I knew there was a lack of support for this product I would not have bought it.
If you are going to purchase this item then check for updated firmware and see if support has actually started again or you could be left flogging a dead horse like we are now. (last update was 25th Aug 2023 and it was still not really working)”
“Ordered this as part of the full kit, sadly the original board was faulty. Pimoroni support was excellent with trouble shooting and sent this as a replacement. Working flawlessly so far. Just need it to rain now! Kids are intrigued.”
“A very clever use of the Pico. I am waiting for a Stevenson screen so atm the board is uncovered in the outdoor building the whole station is mounted on. RJ 11 connectors are solidly connected and all in all a great bit of kit.”
“Nice piece of kit, delivered quickly.
I'm having trouble getting it to upload data to InfluxDB but that probably just means I'm doing something wrong!”
“Great piece of kit. The software is currently evolving, but everything else is just plug'n'play and makes building your weather station a breeze (heh).”
