“AWESOME: Arrived timely. Really cool looking board! Very Cyberpunk. Online docs are really great! Making small changes was super easy. Even getting started with C was easy and well documented. Much love for that!
BUT: The USB-C connector on the board is loose! It keeps losing connectivity on the slightest motion. I'll have to figure out if I can fix it with some solder or glue myself. I did not try my second Badger for that problem yet. This might be a bigger problem for using Badger at scale. I could totally see buying a 100 or so for an event, but that means somebody has to plug in and change a 100 Badgers. If they break 20 USB-C connectors in the process that would suck.
UPDATE: Pimoroni reached out to me and sent me a free replacement Badger. Thanks for the great customer service! The new unit (plus the other one I had) does NOT have any issues with the USB-C connectors.
WISHLIST: (1) Some kind of built-in wireless connectivity. I know it's not trivial. But it could be as small as NFC reading on button press for quickly programming in small details (name, access).
(2) Preassembled version with LiPo battery. I know it's probably a liability nightmare. Maybe there could be a CR2023 version that would be enough for a two-day conference?”
Ahoy! Thanks for the nice review - do drop us a line at support@pimoroni.com if you continue to have problems with the USB-C port! We've seen a few from the first batch with USB-C attachment issues but we've made improvements to the manufacturing process for the second batch :)
