“The Micro Metal Encoder has a big advantage over earlier tachometer assemblies, in that it fits securely on the back of the micro metal motor, held in place by the two motor terminals. The earlier types had the tachometer PCB "floating" and only supported by the two fragile motor terminals, which often broke if handled carelessly. In addition, the use of JST connectors and ready-made cables makes for a secure, error-free connection to boards such as the Inventor 2040 W. This is a big step forward compared with individually soldered wires on small-pitch connectors. We are adopting this type of tachometer and cable assembly for future, bespoke boards requiring micro metal motors.”
