“Clear instructions, plenty of resources on the web and so much help available in/around the various options. Really pleased with the final product (managed to pair up Xbox controllers for multiplayer fun) - thank you!”
“Picade is excellent. My 12 year old son managed to put it together and only needed a little help from me to get the software up and running. Can now play loads of the old games I grew up with in the arcades.”
“Really great kit. Built for my other half who is a massive retro games fan. She absolutely loves it and the vibe of the controller and various emulators took me back to the 80s in a warm and fuzzy way.”
“Wow! I've always wanted a little arcade style console and this one perfectly hits the spot, was a ton of fun to build, always a blast to use with retropie, looks absolutely great even as a talking piece, love the modularity of it all, if I wanted to replace the buttons with something different it would be a breeze and absolutely excellent for the price!
Only issues I've had with it is to do with the speaker (which I don't use anyway), the wire clips just... didn't work for me so I had to duct tape it together, though if I had a soldering iron on hand it looks like it would be possible to just solder it, plus there seems to be issues with changing the volume but that's probably more of an issue with retropie.”
“I'm reviewing this as 5 star as the end result is really good and well worth the occasional annoyance during building. The components are high quality and everything works great - I built mine with a Raspberry Pi 4. The power button for ACPI power on/off is a really nice touch compared to my previous experience with RPi boards. A couple of downsides though: I didn't get any paper instructions with my unit, and the internal cables are very cramped - especially between the Pi and the buttons. This (and the fact the box mentions micro-USB rather than USB-C) are probably due to the switch to using the USB-C Picade HAT. Overall it does work well once built and seems robust.”
