Very well packaged & presented. Assembly was a little fiddly in places, documentation is usable but could do with some additional diagrams (I guess this is due to size constraints of printing the instructions on the reverse of the poster. The print quality of the panel inserts could be better (perhaps on glossy paper) but once the unit is assembled it looks quite nice & templates are available to design your own for a fully custom look (some great designs have already been uploaded on the forum). still worth a full 5 starts though as these kits are designed for customising (I want to ad a scrolling display to my marquee when time allows)

A very nicely presented kit that can be built in an afternoon with minimal tools. A few little tweaks needed, which will hopefully be addressed in future. Full review and build photos on my blog: http://blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2018/08/pimoroni-picade-build.html

Awesome arcade, I wish the screws were labeled I had to guess on the sizes of them but altogether a really fun experience. Every box was like opening a present as they had pins and sticker surprises in them!

This kit is really awesome! I have been particularly pleased by the quality of all the parts in the kit, from the panels to the switches, the display and the joystick. Construction is not complicated at all. The only issue is a screw and bolt that is really impossible to reach (this is one used to connect the panel with the buttons to the main chassis, so I had to use a bit of glue. After the assembly it took me a little time to understand the retropie distribution but eventually I succeeded in installing several ROMs and now I can fully enjoy by Arcade-style playing. Good job Pimoroni! I really advice anyone interested in buying this kit And the overall sales experience has been great as Pimorony has been super quick in delivering my package and like outside the U.K (in Italy). Thanks Luciano

I saw the release of the new Picade and I placed my order. I think I beat the rush as they switched to pre-order not long afterwards. As ever, Pimoroni delivered quickly. The packaging is good quality. The unit and its components are good. The build instructions matched the original Picade in terms of complexity. Although well written, they take some digging through. The bags of nuts and screws and so on could do with being labelled. The actual build is IMHO more solid than the original Picade. The screen part is vastly better placed and mounted in a much more solid way. That fixes an issue on the original. The controller board also addresses an original issue where I had to previously use two power supplies - one for screen and one for Pi. No longer needed in this model. The wiring work is still a bit fiddly, and the final panel fitting remains a by gymnastic. Completed, I downloaded the drivers and loaded up various builds - and its all good. I think that overall, I give this a 9 out of 10, and its a better smaller arcade than the bigger brother. For some reason, the joystick feels better on this than the previous Picade. Anyway - discounted to £135 on release, its basically fantastic and if you like 'arcade' - what are you waiting for??
