“The kit is really well packaged; you can tell from the box, and even how the contents are sub-divided, that a lot of thought went into how to present, package and arrange things to make it as easy to assemble as possible.
Assembling the kit itself is great too; I picked up the 8" kit, although I'm waiting on the 10" monitor upgrade right now, and the way everything fits together is very satisfying. There are a few fiddly stages, but it's hard to see any way that they -couldn't- be fiddly, and they're not really that bad.
Watching the videos definitely makes assembling things easier, along with the extra notes. It'd be good to see the extra notes written into the rest of the documentation down the line, but I'm just thankful to have them both online and also a physical copy in the box too. Having instructions in whatever format you want to use them is a great decision.
The screen is really high quality, and having custom designed boards, from the HAT for the controls and audio, to the custom monitor PCBs, it's a really special product. I love it so much that I've even picked one up for a friend now.
Also, there are -so- many good stickers in there; my partner stole most of them from me though!
For anyone with a Pi 3B+, I'd probably recommend getting a cheap SSD (You won't hit the full speed) and a USB to SATA adapter; it's much quicker to both load up your content in the first place, more reliable for storage and it runs faster.”
“A well made set of pieces which is easy to assemble. Nice set of addon stickers to personalise your Picade is included. I had connected the joystick the wrong way first. Here some improved markings on the cable would be an improvement but else no issues at all. Perfect for the coffee corner in the office.”
