“This is a hard product to review, so I have broken it into stages
1) Pimoroni Support
***** Excellent service, second to none
2) Product Construction
**** Nice bit of kit, good PCB and sturdily constructed . Fits a Pi 3 very well
3) Driver Installation
** You have to revert to Bullseye, the installation doesn't work on the modern OS
4) Example Code
* They don't run without some incomprehensible additions provided to me by Pimoroni Support. If you
Know how to drive the board you don't need them, if you don't know how to drive it the examples
are virtually useless, not a meaningfull comment to be seen
I have returned to using an obsolete Rainbow Hat for my project”
“ARRR GEEE BEEEE! I'm driving it with a microcontroller + circuitpython by adapting an Adafruit LCD library for the ST7565 (almost the same as the ST7567 in the GFX hat) and porting the Pimoroni SN3218 library to circuitpython. Works great! I don't need capacitive touch so not bothering with that.”
“It does what it says which fits what I need. My only issue was that I mistakenly thought that the LCD had six touch zones rather than the six touch areas being on the board.
My other issue was clearly not Pimoroni's fault. It took too months for the package to get from the UK to Guatemala.”
“Prompt delivery. Worked out of the box with their examples. Great price at discounted price of £9. Perhaps some more detailed documentation would be useful.”
“An incredibly priced device, great screen, the buttons work very well and the LEDs for each buttons are very appreciated. The RGB backlight with individually control zones is a great touch.
I am currently using it with a pi to received and display SMS messages.”
“Lovely upgrade to my display-o-tron, and inky phat... and though it’s not as higher resolution as the inky Phat, the ability to refresh the data quicker makes it much more useful”
