“Very happy. The kit did include a heatsink. Easy to assemble and setup. First results very promising. Now I just need to work out where I actually want to put it.”
“Great fun! This arrives in a thin brown cardboard box, inside which you'll find a Pi Zero, the camera module, a USB cable, and an SD card. For instructions you need to go online - the URL is printed on a sticker on the box. All you need to provide is a portable powerbank (you can run it using a phone charger if you're using it indoors looking through a window) and a jar of some sort to put it in if you're placing it outdoors. Setup is easy and takes about half an hour. In operation the camera works really well, and mine is currently taking pictures of birds using a ground feeder in my garden. I did have a problem with the camera locking up but this was resolved by the Naturewatch Camera team via their forum. Really pleased, and we love looking at the pictures of the birds who come to visit out garden.”
“More than a little disappointed with this product. Looked like a fun, affordable little project. I’m not an electronics expert but managed to assemble components, download software, log onto network and get an initial camera image on the iPad..... then it freezes...every time.
This seems to be a common theme on the discussion forum. The suggested likely cause being processor overheating. Heat sink does indeed get warm very quickly. Not even tried it in a container yet where there would be less heat dissipation.
Same product belonging to a friend apparently works perfectly, so who knows.”
“Simple to use and easy set up. My boys (6 & 3) are enjoying seeing what pictures we have captured - although I am now nagged daily to buy more bird feeders...”
