“The kit supplied was as expected so Pimoroni did a perfect job. The camera software is a bit basic. You can only access it by switching wifi to the camera so you can't do much else. You can also only view one at a time. Hopefully there will be a mark 2 to upgrade the software.”
“I was a little nervous of trying this kit as i am not the most techy geek in town. However it was easy to make, set up and use. The results are great and we will try it in lots of different places. So far got pictures of black birds and robins mostly. Interesting how often they have their backs turned to the camera!”
“The camera was very simple to assemble. The main board was mounted on a folded piece of card as described with the camera stuck to the other side. Double sided tape was used to stick the two pieces of card together and to stick it to the main circuit board while the camera was attached using the sticky pads provided.
This worked for about two hours before the glue on the double sided tape went soft and the assembly fell apart. This left a sticky mess on the circuit board but with the camera still firmly attached to the card.I have yet to remove the glue from the circuit board but with great care I did manage to remove the card from the camera assembly.
The camera works well although the software is not very polished and quite slow. It sometimes looks to all intents as if the circuit board is overheating but that was not the case you simply have to wait until things happen. It will also be nice when the software works with Windows as at present if you have more than one camera they will all have the same name and password. I could delve into the software myself but just the thought sends me to sleep.
The camera is also focussed to about 2m,not infinity, and it is not adjustable and a minor point. Finally there is a better camera available that has a higher resolution and alternative lenses that must be worth investigation.”
“I'll be honest. I wasn't expecting such great results so quickly. To be fair, it took me the best part of a day to get the camera up and running. Past experience of using Linux and Raspberry Pi certainly helped but you could probably still succeed simply by following the instructions. My power pack is currently charging and day two is about to start. This time, maybe I'll catch the local squirrel. Some of my first efforts https://flic.kr/s/aHsmeuFtT5”
