“A nice simple kit to introduce electronics to beginners with the novelty of conductive thread, sewing and lots of flashing LEDs. It may not be obvious for those who slide the sleeve off the plastic container intact but do NOT discard it! The sleeve has the instructions on the inside. If you are giving this as a gift it's worth mentioning this.
The kit on its own has limited functionality but five pads await you on the back of the badge and soldering onto these is very easy. Pimoroni publish a library for the Raspberry Pi to communicate with the badge over i2c. There's also a CircuitPython suitable library which is demonstrated in an Instructables article.
Would benefit from some notes somewhere on how the Bear badge is implemented for beginners wanting to learn more about the electronics.
