This is the perfect add-on to fix in my opinion one of the most annoying flaws of raspberry - the missing on off switch. It's simple to setup and does exactly what it's supposed to do - what I especially like is the possibility to add an external button and that there's even space left to add a Hat.

It neatly solves the problem of how to properly shutdown a Raspberry Pi if it is running headless (no monitor or keyboard). In my case there is an additional benefit. I have a couple of sensors powered from the 5V rail of the Raspberry Pi and simply shutting down the Pi normally using the GUI or command line keeps the sensors draining the battery. The OnOff SHIM solves that problem too. Brilliant! My only niggles are: The soldering job required is quite tricky and solder creeping up the pins can make plugging-in extra boards (HATs...) difficult. And while there is provision for an external button, it would be good if there was an easy way to remote the LED on the OnOff SHIM too.

It works well but only after permanently soldering it on to the pi zero did I realise that combined with an inky phat, it created a machine that was permanently off. Pimoroni need to supply a compatibility list. I thought I could get around this by adding a separate off switch and assigning that to a different gpio pin (changing the script accordingly). This works on shutdown but not start up if an offending phat is in place. Potentially you could insulate the trigger pin and not solder it when attaching the shim, but all too late for me. Actually this was the second one that I had soldered on as i zapped the first one when soldering it on. It is a fiddly solder and quite close to the Pizero board. The result was a pi zero which still could receive a hat on top (if compatible). Spacing it is a bit or an art if you do this- a lolly stick works.

Excellent addition to the Pi, very useful for headless devices.

Turns your Pi on, or off, safely and cleanly, simply by the press of a button. No need for any other devices or interfaces. It's easy to install, and just as easy to add another button for the outside of a case. It's a little more complicated to add an external LED - but it can be done, and it's not so difficult that a noob like me couldn't manage it after a bit of experimentation. I would like to see a future revision that includes solder pads for an external LED too. But, other than that, it does a fantastic job and I'm exceptionally pleased

Yes, everything was OK with my order. Installation of the On/Off shim was faultless and it is performing flawlessly. I will buy more.
