Ahoy Jan!
Setting up Speaker pHAT should be as simple as running a single command on your Raspberry Pi. The details are here: https://github.com/pimoroni/speaker-phat
If that's not working then please send a photo of your soldered Speaker pHAT to our support@pimoroni.com address so we can check that the assembly looks good.
Drop us a line and we're happy to help! :-)
“My soldering skills were 40 years out of date and it took ages. Next time I will buy the push-fit header! The software installed perfectly and the speaker does exactly what it said on the label.
The install script warned that the on-board audio would be disabled and that is why this review isn't 5 stars. I accepted, of course, but I have decided that the quality is fine for everday.(eg for the odd YouTube tutorial), but not for music.
Is there a simple way to restore my on-board audio after unplugging the Speaker pHat?
PS This is only my fourth day as a Raspberry Pi owner. I'm an old Cobol programmer! Please excuse me if I get the jargon wrong.”
“hi i love this phat, but have a hell of a time to get it connected with volumio.. sound works fine, but the pivumeter is something different.. who has succeed to get this working with volumio?
i noticed that my 4ohm speaker gets really warm...”
“If your interested in creating a voice assistant, then this is a great addition to your project.
If not, then it's a great addition for adding a good amount of volume to any project you're doing! I found that installing VLC helped in giving me an idea of the quality and volume available when playing mp3 files (on newly installed noobs there is no media player, but correct me if I'm wrong).
I love it and look forward to getting it working with many a projects.
If your interested in using the speaker phat whilst having access to other pins on the Raspberry pi, here's a useful page that shows the pins used!
Good luck :)”
“This is a great little board I use this as my constant audio output for my pi.
I have also got it working over airplay and as a radio!
I recommend it to everyone I know with a pi!”
