“Apart from the nice and flashy examples, the bright LEDs and super easy documentation, the unicorn phat is perfect for making a siri-controlled lamp. It only requires a bit of modification from the siri-conrolled mote tutorial from pimoroni and really works like a charm.
A high quality product with an easy documentation and extendable features make this product one of the best from Pimoroni.”
“Trying to use any of the IO on the pi with this phat in place is difficult. I found one website that shows that this hat only need power, ground, and pin 18 on the IO but I haven't seen anything to back that up. I will be testing that later but it would be nice if it said somewhere on this site which pins are safe to pass through.”
“The LEDs are beautiful, and the example scripts are great for the kids. My daughter has even used it as a night light after modifying the brightness and speed of the rainbow script.”
“Received the Unicorn pHat as a christmas gift... I absolutely love it. The Pimoroni website provided full install instructions, and some basic scripts to get going.
Had some code queries answered promptly and accurately by the staff, and i've also ordered some more raspberry pi kit knowing that it's good gear and there's support if required.
One very happy Unicornist”
“It is indeed very bright at max brightness. I plan on using it, with a RPi Zero, to display notifications from my home automation system but also notifications pushed from the phone when I'm at home.”
“Recently got the Unicorn pHAT, it's a great addons to a pi-zero or any pi for all that matters! the LEDs are insanely bright, so if you program with high brightness you better invest in some frosted diffusers.
You will loose track of time and end up programming the most exotic control for your Unicorn pHAT, but it is 100% worth it!”
