“Great value piece of kit, up and running in no time, I now have a small robot buggy running round the house annoying the cats :-).
Easy to set up and easy to program.
f you are only going to get one Hat, this is the one you need.”
“I bought this to use as a prototyping tool and in this it has excelled. Highly recommended for anyone looking to get into using a Raspberry Pi as a motor controller as the Python code is easy to understand and the board itself allows for expansion beyond just controlling motors.”
“A minor niggle, some PCB standoffs or spacers to securely mount this to the Pi are pretty much essential and should really be included.
For the sake of an I2C I/O expander or I2C motor driver, this could have been really great. It provides access to or via (so uses) 16 of the Pi's I/O pins making it incompatible with some other accessories which might otherwise have been stacked with it, e.g. The motor pins on GPIOs 19-21 make it incompatible with I2S audio boards. Use of an I/O expander could have left most of the Pi's GPIOs available for other boards.”
“I bought the PRO version but both of them have few limits. Already played with the examples and created a small program to use the leds and the touch pads. More projects in mind, next one a small rover using the two H-bridge motor drivers.
Must-have HAT”
“Recently bought the explorer hat pro and have been really pleased with it. Got the board with a couple of motors intending to make a robot and with a couple of jumper wires, some lines of code we were up and running!
Can't fault the board at all, it's built to the usual high standard I've come to expect from Pimoroni and the libraries and tutorials make it really easy to start getting the most out of it.”
“The Explorer HAT and Explorer HAT Pro are amazing and Practical HAT(s) for Raspberry Pi. By ExplorerHAT Pro I've made easily a robot. Working with it is very simple.
Other features :
1. Excellent quality
2. Pure Python library
3. Easy use
4. Made in UK
5. Suitable for training electronic
6. And more ...
I am glad that I bought it, Thank you Pimoroni.”
“The ExplorerHAT is a brilliant add-on for rapidly building circuits that utilise the GPIO pins. The big advantage is that you already have 4 buttons, 4 LEDS and 4 croc-clip points available without the need for any wiring. Pretty much everything I build for the Pi involves some of all of those components readily available is a real time (and space) saver.
The Python API is great and has a lot of built-in useful functions (like blinking an led, toggling an output or creating a handler function to run when a button is pressed).
Treat yourself and get the ExplorerHAT Pro so you can also mess around with motors!”
