“I was looking for a passively cooked case and this was the perfect solution, the grey color is nice to the eye and almost makes the device not pop out as “weird electronics” to people on planes”
“Reasonably good at cooling, but too many missed opportunities. For example, if the top and bottom parts were interlocking or all made in one piece, where the board would slot in like a drawer (with just enough clearance that it wouldn't cause issues to the thermal pads), you could have much more metal contributing to heat sinking. Good that the outer fins are pretty thick, as it give structure, but the inner ones could have been much thinner. Also, if it was possible to leave the screwing point accessible for hats, with built-in extensions, it would have been better. If the board had main chips on the opposite side, everything would have been better, but it's not the heatsink's fault.
If it had a flat surface similar to that of a standard CPU (e.g. a socket 1200 one), you could have used an additional sink with fan for extreme situations, but it has been reasonably good in normal/average conditions as it is.”
“I love it! Install was easy and it looks great. CPU on idle is at 45 degrees Celsius. On stress test (4 cores for ~10 minutes) it went up to 60. So no throttling, which was the point of this excersice. The key is that all connectors remain accessible.”
