Bought both versions. What I like is, that a small metal plate prevents accidental shorts of components on the FPC when bending. However due to the huge area on which the components are placed, this restricts bending of the cable a lot. The cable itself a bit short, but this solely depend on your use case. You can alwas extend a cable but never shorten it without destroying the camera. Overall a good camera for good price. Best for applications where space is limited.

Just taken delivery of a second one of these. It's slightly different from the first: has "Frank-S01-V1.0" on the FPC, not that misspelling of Raspberry like the last. The FPC is noticeably softer & more pliable than the previous. Much better for bending/folding, whether it's into an S-shape for an ultra-compact forwards-pointing mount, or simply folded over and stuck onto the back of the Zero's PCB for a rear-pointing mount. If you do fold into an S-shape, you'd better to stick an insulating layer of tape over the components on the FPC to stop them shorting against the power supply components on the Zero.

This camera module is small and low price than official module. But, I found that this module is not compatible with official Pi Zero Case. The cable length is slightly short for the lens hole in the top case.

I hope this camera will be available also as NoIR version, for BirdBox use.

This camera module for the Raspberry Pi Zero is a great addition to any Pi enthusiast's kit. The high-definition 5MP camera delivers outstanding photos but can also shoot video, ideal for drones or a cctv project. The light weight combined with the black of the camera module allows for it to be used in more practical roles, such as a hidden camera or even a camera for a Pi-phone, for example. I would recommend this to anyone from 3 years to 300 years old :) .
