The Octocam is a nice simple project which is easy to get up and running. Using the instructions on Pimoroni, assembly took about ten minutes and I then flashed the MotionEyeOS onto a new 16GB micro SD card and was away! About the build: The nuts and bolts are plastic so will only tolerate gentle finger-tightness - this makes the base stand fairly unstable and liable to spring out as it is held by pressure alone. The Octo-board does bend slightly so I would also advise trimming down the spongy spacer before fixing it to the back of the camera module if needed. The camera is poor in low light conditions (but maybe Pimoroni can add some IR LEDs where the Octopus eyes are for Octocam v2...). The software: MotionEyeOS is like a well-featured CCTV system, however it is not very flexible for adding your own scripts additional hardware etc - I would recommend installing raspbian OS and then installing MotionEye (not the OS) on top. However, even with MotionEyeOS, I managed to set the motion notification to run a curl command to blink my Hue lights when motion was detected - pretty neat!

Great product as always! Obviously not as good as the latest camera module for the regular raspberry pi but it's pretty good for its size and price, better than I expected it to be.

It's a good bit of kit, very easy to set up, but the overall quality could be better - possibly improved by a third party lens.

Great little cam I added to a pizero for infra-red monitoring. Worked straight out of the box with motion app on raspbian stretch!
